About the artist:
Helen Rucarean (aka Elana) studied in Michigan at the Bloomfield
Art Association with many world-renowned artist/instructors. Painting
in oil for many years has given her an opportunity to show her work
in many venues around the country.
Helen has had many shows in galleries in and around the Michigan
area. She has participated for many years in the "Ann Arbor
Art Fair", one of the largest juried fairs in the country.
The sale of her art and the winning of many awards have given her
a sense of accomplishment many artists covet.
While employed at St. Mary's College of Orchard Lake, Michigan as
Art Director, Helen was surrounded by the Old Masters, which gave
her a renewed love of various types of art.
Love of art has taken Helen too many parts of the world. Her life
experiences show thru her paintings.
She currently resides in Gainesville, Florida where she continues
to pursue the wealth of creativity from a new area. She is a member
of the Gainesville Fine Arts Association. She is now painting in
acrylic because she feels the paint reacts better in the tropical
climate. She saw a need for outdoor art, which has given her inspiration
to begin painting for areas of the home such as, Florida rooms,
covered porches and pool areas as well as other areas of the home.
She has lived in the Gainesville area a very short time but has
found a niche for her paintings. She has her paintings in many galleries;
restaurants and a one man show at the Gainesville County Building.
She has been very successful in her new medium.
The process begins its life with painting on masonite board. First,
it is given three coats of gesso, which seals the board. Next, she
says the subject is painted with love. The process continues with
four coats of polyurethane to protect the painting that brings it
to life. Lastly, a spray of polyurethane coats the backside to prevent
warping.
She has chosen to frame with metal to allow it to be hung either
indoors or in a covered area outdoors.
Helen hopes
that her paintings will enrich your life with much happiness and
the love for art.
Hang and enjoy!!!!!
